Namaste to all!
Being 60 years old, I thought volunteering in Nepal would be a tough challenge for me but I was taken aback by the hospitality and honesty of Nepalese people.

I had been trying for quite sometime to volunteer in Nepal and was searching for a very committed and dedicated voluntary organization to help me in my endeavor and CUS-Nepal fit the description. I was at home with this organization as the staff of CUS-Nepal was kind and thoughtful in arranging my placement. I had a very warm reception at the placement by the host family which was few kilometers from the capital city, Kathmandu. My host family was very helpful in every way.

My real Nepali experience started with the first Nepali language class and brought back memories of my school days and it was fun to learn totally different language. My nepali language teacher made me familiar with the people around and specially the culture and tradition of Nepal which was really interesting.

Teaching a bunch of kids who were so eager to learn was another experience which I will never forget…..was it because of my accent or my color I was the center of attraction and kids loved to be around me all the time. I was touched by their simplicity and honesty.

Besides volunteering, I had a great time seeing some breath taking and picturesque landscape of Nepal and the icing on the cake was the wonderful and adventurous trekking in Nepal…..it was challenging for me but was worth taking! If anybody wants to do a work of charity and never forget it….Nepal is the place and I recommend CUS-Nepal to help you in your endeavor.
